Japanese legends and stories
Japan is one of the most progressive and developed countries in the world. Its current technology and improvements in various scientific fields have shown civilisation a new path of betterment. Despite robotic and nanotechnology, Japan's culture and tradition a significant role in its improvement. Japanese Urban legends are extraordinary and engaging in their way because they almost certainly end in death. With victims varying from exhausted travellers to catastrophic toilet goers!- pray that you never encounter any of these legends.
1. Kuchisake Onna
She was considered to be the wife of an honourable samurai warrior. The warrior once slash opened her mouth, when she was caught cheating. She is one of the famous and most feared legends. She walks on the streets after sunset wearing a white surgical mask( she is corona negative, for god's sake!)and approaches travellers. She asks them whether she is gorgeous or not. If they say yes, she will slit open their mouths too, if they say no, then she will cut them in half. The trick is to answer that she looks average, and don't even ask her for a date!
2. The legend of the Jorogumo
The Jorogumo is a half-woman, a half spider that can transform itself into a beautiful woman when hunting for young men and even children. Once a young samurai met a gorgeous woman. But the samurai saw through her cloak and realized that she was not a human. He drew his sword and charged towards the creature, which fled quick enough. The samurai followed the trail of blood and found himself in a cave, full of dozens of human bodies, tied in spider silk.
3. Okiku doll
It was bought by a young boy in 1918, as a present for his sister Okiku. She liked the doll and spent most of her time with it until she died due to illness. The doll is seemed to contain her soul and is assumed to be cursed. The owners of the doll have reported serious ghostly activities. They also claim that the hair of the doll is 100℅ like human and continues to grow after being cut. ( Anime version of Annabelle??)
4. Teke Teke
Teke is the upper half of a woman who accidentally fell onto the tracks at a subway station and was cut in half. She makes a teke teke sound while moving around. She is considered to be the most strong entity and confronting her anger means death. She still roams around looking for vengeance. Those who die by her scythe are said to undergo the same fate as her.
5. The red room curse
The red room story is an internet legend about a pop up that arises on the victim's computer. The image of a door appears with a message"Do you like the red room?" Those who have seen the pop up are found to be dead, the walls painted red with their blood. It earned popularity when the schoolgirl who executed the Sasebo slashing in 2004 had the video as a bookmark.
